How we use your data

For your account

• Display your vehicles, fuel logs, and maintenance history
• Calculate fuel efficiency and cost metrics
• Send service reminders and notifications you've enabled

For community features

We combine anonymized data from all users to power features that help everyone:

• Fair pricing: See typical costs for repairs and fuel in your area
• Reliability insights: Real-world data on how vehicles and components perform
• Mechanic ratings: Community-driven trust scores based on service outcomes

Your protections

• Aggregate data cannot identify you - it's statistics about vehicle models, not individual users
• We require at least 5 contributors before including any data point, protecting owners of rare vehicles
• Your VIN is never shared - we only use decoded attributes (make, model, year)

Future use

In the future, we may share aggregate statistics with researchers or industry partners to improve vehicle safety and reliability. The same protections apply - this data is fully anonymized and cannot identify you.

• Sell your personal data
• Share identifiable information with third parties without your explicit consent
• Share your VIN with anyone

Data retention & deletion

While your account is active

All your data is retained and accessible to you.

If you delete your account

• Your account and personal identifiers (email) are removed within 30 days
• Vehicle and maintenance records are retained in anonymized form for community features
• This anonymized data cannot be linked back to you

If you delete a vehicle

• Vehicle moves to trash for 30 days (recoverable)
• After 30 days, removed from your account view
• Records are retained in anonymized form for community features

Your rights

You can

• Access all your data (it's visible in the app)
• Export your data (download your full history)
• Delete your account at any time
• Correct inaccurate information

Limitations

We cannot remove your data from anonymized aggregates that have already been generated - this data is no longer linked to you and cannot be identified or extracted.

Security & third parties

Security

• Data encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text
• Access controls limit who can access production data

Third-party services

• We use third-party services for hosting and email
• These providers only access data necessary for their service
• We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers
